Evolution of Women Gymnastics - 90s



Kim Gwang Suk, North Korea, stunned the world with a perfect then in the 91 World gymnastics championship in the Event Final of uneven bars. She had very difficult routine in which one is created under her which called "Counter Kim". This release move is transferred from the Men Gymnastics skill in High bar. The skills in bars become more release and more exciting.




Lu Li, China, scored perfect ten in the 92 Olympic event final of Uneven Bar. This is the last perfect ten we can observed under the major gymnastics competition. Her routine was elegant, nice and full of artistic element, besides the difficult skills.




Svetlana Khorkina, Russia, start to dominate this event in 96 until 03. She missed the bars routine in 2004 Athen Olympics during the event final that caused her lost the Gold medal although she had big chances in winning it. She won a lot of major gymnastic meet for this events. She is tall, and her routine in uneven bars were full of originality.




Mo Hui Lan, China, stunned the world with her most difficult release move called "Gaylord", or "Mo Salto". This release move was transferred from Men's High Bar. This release move is very difficult to perform in women bars. As we can observe,the distance between bars is much further as compare to the 70s or 80s.




Bi Wen Jing, China, is the big rival of Khorkina during the 96 - 98 meets. Her bars set was breathtaking and she created one skills called "Bi Turn", that become the trademark of China Gymnast nowadays.
