During lunch, one of my colleagues, whose name resemble the branded name for men wear, said that he found a salary report on the jobstreet.
Seems so interesting, and search in the jobstreet. By checking the salary based on position and years of experience, feel that the salary we have in Malaysia, is still hard to catch up with the price of consumer/property in current days.
Those who stay in KL need to suffer the Tol fee. Portion of the salary has contributed to the toll, but yet still need to suffer the traffic jam and waste the consumption of the petrol. Property in Klang valley is high. Just imagine for a condo, is at least in 200K range, the landed property may above 300K for a nice location. If compare with the same working profile with me who is in 31-35 age range, the average salary is 3375. The property is like 5 to 8 fold of your annual salary.
If we using bank loan rule, in which you just can use 1/3 of your monthly salary for monthly installment, you can only afford to borrow loan for 185K, with 30 years of payment, at 6.15% fix rate. That's mean, the only property you can afford is condo. Landed property seems a further step or years of saving before can buy. However, they have maintenance fees for condo, renovation, furniture.., It seems like your average salary is not enough. Monthly payment to house, car, petrol, toll, cell phone... Does that enough to survive in Malaysia?
Due to that, I feel that living in Malaysia versus the salary you earn can't really tally with the cost of living in Malaysia.
